Who have you underestimated?

Who have you underestimated?

Posted on Apr 21st, 2008 by shivermetimbers01
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 19, 2008:

Actually, I tend to overestimate people, thinking that they will rise to my high standards no matter what their situation.  Of course, I am almost always disappointed.  It is a source of constant frustration for me to realize that everyone will eventually do something to disappoint me.  I expect far too much from the world.

yar, matie! (ok, I just had to ;)

I can relate. Not that anyone is perfect, but…man! For example, thinking before you say something insulting and/or selfish that, had you thought first, you wouldn't have said? I realize that 95% of the folks are illogical but that was 5-year-old logic for me.

Don't stop expect much tho' ~ continue to rise and some will rise with you.

I think you should keep expecting a lot - and when people fall short, think about how you could help them rise higher.
None of us are perfect, and I know I hate to think someone is disappointed in me…..so I try to not take things personally.

When I worry about what someone will think, or why someone would be so rude to me, My brother in law reminds be to be humble by this - “Hey, you're not that important” -
It has become my mantra to remember there are bigger things than me, and getting disappointed takes a lot of energy.  I just assume we're all trying…
